Can You Wax a Stone Floor? DO NOT EVER!
Like most things in life, there is a right way and a wrong way to polish stone floors. If you choose the wrong way, you may achieve a temporary shine but will likely experience many future problems. Due to its quick and cost-effective nature, some of our competitors rely on an inferior “Wax” or crystallization method which is NOT true “polishing”. Rather, it is a highly controversial process that sprays a liquid crystallizer on the natural stone surface and is then buffed with a polishing pad and steel wool. The steel wool heats up the liquid crystallizer to create a chemical reaction to produce a shine. But over time and with excessive use, crystallization builds up a wax-life finish that clogs the natural stone’s pores and can potentially lead to spalling and other permanent problems.
