Liquid Dish Detergent Can Remove Rust Stains
A mild liquid dish detergent solutions is a safe option to remove rust stains from grout. Mix well 20 drops of mild dish soap and a cup of water in a squirt bottle. Apply the solution generously and let it soak in for 5-10 minutes. With a sponge or a soft-bristle brush scrub the away the rust remnants. If needed, repeat. Be sure to thoroughly tins the soapy residue and rust with warm water. Also, this home remedy can be used for everyday cleaning to maintain your grout.
Hydrogen Peroxide Will Remove Rust Stains from Grout
A safe option for rust removal is using diluted hydrogen peroxide. Mix together well 1 cup water with ½ cup of hydrogen peroxide in a spray bottle. Saturate the stain well and in between applications, use circular patterns to scrub clean with a soft bristled brush or sponge. After the rust is gone, rinse the treated area well with warm water to ensure the mixture and any residual rust is removed. Also, mold and mildew stains can also be effectively and safely removed with this mixture. Caution – Hydrogen peroxide can potentially lighten your grout’s color, as it is a natural lightening agent. Where this solution is diluted and should not cause any fading effects, be sure to perform a patch test in an inconspicuous area to ensure the grout’s color is not compromised.
Powder Laundry Detergent Grout Rust Remover
Powder laundry detergent is gentle, yet effective against rust stains on grout. The rust stain needs to be pre-dampened first, followed by a sprinkling of a layer of powder laundry detergent. Allow the detergent to loosen the rust for 5-10 minutes. Use circular scrubbing patterns with a sponge or a soft-bristle brush to scrub away the rust, immediately follow up with warm water to rinse the area clean. Repeat as necessary and ensure you always rinse the area clean.
