What Causes Mold on Bathroom Walls & Ceilings
Many people forgo the use of ventilation fans while making use of laundry rooms and bathrooms. Without the vent fans, the moisture and warm temperature content can feed the mold spores. Wood, wallpaper, grout, drywall, rugs, paper products, and fabric, among other cellulose materials, are extremely susceptible to mold when left damp.
Check for Mold Behind Shower Tile, Under Bathtub & More
It is always a good practice to inspect the bathroom as you clean it for any mold growing anywhere. Inspect the area under sinks, and in between products that typically occupy the cabinet space. Also look around exhaust fans, and around bathtub and shower grout and fixtures.
During the course of your shower or bathing, or while doing the laundry, be sure to use your exhaust/ventilation fan and leave it on for at least 30 minutes after you have finished. Get a ventilation fan installed in your bathroom or laundry room if you do not have one, and ensure it is repaired if it is not operating properly. To control the humidity levels under 50%, use your air conditioner or dehumidifiers. Either wash or replace mildew resistant shower curtain often. Avoid leaving bathroom paraphernalia in the shower wet including body wash containers, shampoo and conditioner bottles, bath toys, wash cloths or loofahs and shaving razors. Any bathroom rugs and nonslip shower mats should be washed frequently.
