Hydrogen Peroxide with Baking Soda Tile Cleaner

Tougher stains can be helped with hydrogen peroxide. Combine equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and apply to grout. After scrubbing, rinse well with warm water. DO NOT MIX CHEMICALS if you prefer to work with commercial cleaners, do not combine these chemicals with baking soda.

Cleaning Tile & Grout with Bleach and Baking Soda

Keep in mind bleach can potentially lighten your colored grout. When handling bleach, be sure to practice safety precautions. Depending on the sensitivity, wear rubber gloves, safety goggles, and use proper ventilation. In a bucket, mix 3/4 cup baking soda, to 1/4 cup of bleach and mix until it is a thick paste. Administer it to the grout and allow 15 minutes to soak in. Use a scrub brush and toothbrush in the corners and with circular motions, scrub clean and rinse with warm water.

Tile Steam Cleaner

Using a steam cleaner is often the most effective method. Follow the manufacturer’s directions to ensure maximum results. Using the steam cleaner can make it worse if improperly used, and use caution against loose, cracked or broken tiles.

Apply these four tips no matter which method you use:
1) Before using any cleaning formulas as this can remove the top layer of dirt, clean your tile and grout with warm water.
2) Remember to avoid bleach or bleach products on colored grout if you want to avoid lightening affects.
3) With ANY mixtures, perform a test patch whether it be home made, or store bought, to ensure it will not alter your shade of grout. Put the test area in a corner at the bottom where it won’t be noticeable should your grout be compromised.
4) Some chemicals do not get along and could be dangerous, remember to not mix cleaners.
