Be sure to perform a patch test in an inconspicuous area to ensure the grout’s color is not compromised since this solution is diluted and should not cause any fading effects.

Liquid Dish Detergent Rust Removal from Grout

To remove rust stains from grout, a mild liquid dish detergent solution is a safe option. In a squirt bottle, combine 20 drops of mild dish soap and a cup of water. Generously apply the solution and let it soak into the fibers for 5-10 minutes. Scrub the away the rust remnants with a sponge or a soft-bristle brush and repeat as needed. With warm water, make certain to thoroughly rinse the soapy residue and rust. To maintain your grout, this home remedy can be used for everyday cleaning as well.

Powder Laundry Detergent to Clean Grout Rust Stains

Against rust stains on grout, powder laundry detergent is gentle, yet effective. Followed by a sprinkling of a layer of powder laundry detergent, the rust stain needs to be pre-dampened first. Immediately follow up with warm water to rinse the area clean with circular scrubbing patterns with a sponge or a soft-bristle brush to scrub away the rust. As necessary, repeat the steps and ensure you always rinse the area clean.
